The first Chapel Hill Community Day, hosted by Marcus Ginyard Basketball Camp, was an incredible event that took place over the course of two days, with a gym full of enthusiastic and energetic campers from Orange County. Campers were able to interact with Chapel Hill Police and Fire Departments during their demonstrations over the weekend, complete with fire trucks, water hoses, police cruisers and a police K-9. Some police officers even volunteered their time to coach the campers throughout the weekend. We were absolutely thrilled to receive the support of so many people in the Chapel Hill community.
We would like to thank our partners: Chapel Hill Sportswear, Chapel Hill Police Department, Chapel Hill Fire Department, Italian Pizzeria III, and Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation.
We would also like to thank some others who helped make this wonderful event possible: Nate Chambers, Jim Orr, John Brunner, Nate Davis, Matt Sullivan, Nicolas Sparks, Staker Chiropractic, Suttons Drug Store, Erin Mizelle, Peyton Williams, Dariusz Ejkiewicz, Ginyard Realty Group, Brain Smart, Paddy Hibbert, Roy Hibbert and Krā Drinks.
A special thanks to the UNC Basketball Family: Theo Pinson and Tyler Hansbrough for speaking to the campers, Deon Thompson for dropping by and Justin Watts for coaching.
Thanks to all the counselors that volunteered their time to work with the camp for the 2 days: Jeremy Sauer, Charlie Pardo, Shane Osbourne, Nicole Slavic, Stan Newsome, Scott Taylor, Matt Roberts, Justin Watts, Nate Chambers, Michael Stone and Jay Nichols.
It has been a pleasure to work with so many individuals, groups and businesses that care about the youth in our community.
