Our third annual Chapel Hill Community Day took place July 6th and 7th, 2019 and was our largest event to date! The weekend was filled with fun, basketball and community! 80 campers from Orange County filled both gyms at East Chapel Hill High School, many of whom were familiar faces from previous Community Day events.

2019 Chapel Hill Community Day
The kids loved learning high-level basketball skills from an extremely experienced coaching staff. Campers enjoyed games of knock-out, free-throw competitions and scrimmages against each other. We were very lucky to have current UNC Basketball stars Garrison Brooks and Christian Keeling spend some time with the campers, talking about their experience with basketball and interacting with campers throughout the day.
Carrboro and Chapel Hill Fire Departments teamed up to provide our campers with hands-on demonstrations on how they fight fires and promote fire safety. Kids climbed in the fire trucks, dressed in full fire gear and ran through a simulated obstacle course with a live fire hose! Law Enforcement day was equally popular as kids were treated to a K-9 demonstration, sat in the driver seat of a police cruiser, and felt what its like to wear tactical gear. Chapel Hill Police Department, Carrboro Police Department, and Orange County Sheriff all shared their experience of serving the local community.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this wonderful event possible! We look forward to making the Chapel Hill Community Day even bigger next year, so be sure to stay tuned to our website and social media pages to be up to-date on the newest announcements and developments.
