Summer of 2016 marked the 5th edition of the Marcus Ginyard Basketball Camp, held for the third year in Alexandria, Virginia, and for a second consecutive year in McLean, Virginia. In 2012, we created MGBC with the hopes of teaching young kids fundamental skills, as well as fundamental life lessons through the game of basketball. We have stood by our motto “Having Fun Getting Better” which leads us in everything we do. Marcus Ginyard Basketball Camp 2016 was another perfect example of how coaches and campers can have a great time while becoming better players and better people.
This summer we were fortunate to work with more than 75 amazing campers who came to camp with the most energy and willingness to learn than we have had to date. We enjoyed working on major fundamental skills like passing, shooting, rebounding and dribbling, but also covered things like balance and body control. The campers were thrilled to participate in daily competitions such as Knockout and 1 on 1, as well as their team games twice daily. Over the years Marcus has built a great relationship with professional athletic trainer Chris Gorres, who has worked with numerous NFL, NBA and Olympic athletes. For the second year, Chris visited Marcus Ginyard Basketball Camp and shared valuable information with the campers on how to train their bodies better for the next level!
We’re looking forward to working with the kids next year, and hope that you will join us for Marcus Ginyard Basketball Camp 2017!
