After 2 years away, I have decided to make my return to Poland and the Energa Basket Liga (EBL). For the remainder of the season I will represent Asseco Arka Gdynia in their campaign for a 10th Polish League Championship. This marks the 4th time that I have competed here, and for the fourth different team. Arka began the season in the highly respected EuroCup, but will compete only in EBL from this point on.
The opportunity to come back to Poland was especially attractive to me for a number or reasons. We currently sit in second place in the standings, which was a huge part of my decision. I want to compete for a gold medal, and we have a roster here that is more than capable of winning the championship. Playing here in Arka also provided a unique experience to be coached by a former teammate, Przemysław Frasunkiewicz, which has already proven to have a very positive impact on my performance. The city of Gdynia, and the “Tri-City” area is arguably the best place to live in Poland. What could be better than city life combined with the beach!? Everything about coming here felt like a no-brainer to me, and I couldn’t be happier to be here.
Last weekend we had a strong showing in the Polish Cup, reaching the finals but losing to BM Stal Ostrow 77-74. Although we didn’t come away with the title, we left the tournament with a renewed sense of confidence and focus for the remaining 11 regular season games. We know that with our full effort and focus, the championship is ours to take!
